Competition Regulations


1. General Provisions

1.1. International Music Arrangement Festival – Competition APEX (hereinafter referred to as the Competition) is set to extend the chamber music repertoire and encourage the evolution of professional music in different style directions.

1.2. The organizer of the Competition is PI „Iš Arti“(CC 302299198, hereinafter referred to as the Organizer).


2. Organizer

2.1. The Organizer is obliged to:

2.1.1. update information about the Competition;

2.1.2. inform all participants about the process of the Competition and its winners;

2.1.3. award the winners;

2.1.4. always specify the composer and the arranger of a piece in its public presentation.


3. Eligibility

3.1. The Competition entry is available for composers, music performers and arrangers.

3.2. The Competition has no age restrictions.

3.3. By participating in the Competition, the winner grants the Organizer the right to reproduce and distribute the arranged composition (publish the work in score, release it on a compact disc (CD), perform publicly, broadcast, share on the Internet, etc.).

3.4. To enter the Competition, the Participant must fill in the form (DOC format) with the following information:

3.4.1. Name, surname, year of birth, country.

3.4.2. Mobile phone number, email and home addresses.

3.4.3. Author, title, instrumentation, and year of the original composition.

3.5. The piece must be arranged for one of the following ensembles: string quartet, piano trio or wind quintet.

3.6. The duration of the arranged composition must be 4 – 6 minutes.

3.7. Only unpublished, publicly unperformed and publicly unavailable pieces arranged from 2016 to 2018 may enter the Competition.

3.8. The Participant has to send the Organizer the following information via e-mail services (e-mail address:

3.8.1. The score of the original piece (Portable Document Format (PDF)).

3.8.2. The arrangement (the complete score with every instrument‘s part separately in a PDF and a Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) version).

3.9. Only one arrangement per participant is allowed to enter the Competition.                 

3.10. All entries must be submitted by the 3rd of September, 2018.

3.11. To take part in the Competition, a participant must pay a non-refundable 20 Euro entry fee.

3.11.1. An entry fee must be sent to the bank account of the Organizer indicating the following information: participant‘s name, surname, „for the APEX competition “.

3.12. The Organizer reserves the right to exclude an arranged composition that does not meet, or in any direct or indirect means has violated the entry requirements and regulations of the competition.

4. Jury, Evaluation Criteria, Awards                           

4.1. The competition will be judged by a specially convened international five member panel including:

Platon Buravicky, composer (LV)

Jievaras Jasinskis, arranger, composer, trombonist (LT)

Loreta Narvilaitė, composer (LT)

Łukasz Pawlik, cellist, jazz pianist, composer (PL)

Raimundas Martinkėnas, composer (LT)

4.2. The evaluation criteria of the participating pieces are: instrument mastery, ensembling, sense of style and creativity.

4.3. The authors of winning arrangements will receive the following financial awards:

1st place - 1000 EUR

2nd place - 750 EUR

3rd place - 500 EUR

Extra rewards such as special prizes, diplomas, etc. might also be awarded to the Participants.

4.4. The announcement of winners, award ceremony and the concert of the winning pieces will take place on the 23rd of September, 2018, at Kaunas State Philharmonic. 

4.5. The Organizer does not cover any expenses regarding winners‘ participation at the award ceremony (meals, accommodation, etc.).


5. Final Provisions

5.1. Entering the competition, constitutes the acceptance of these rules.

5.2. The Organizer reserves the right to make adjustments to these Regulations, replace the members of the Jury, as well as change its number and the award distribution.

5.3. All disputes shall be resolved in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Lithuania and these Regulations.
